Thanks for pointing the Falkirk Wheel out, it's curious, but typical, that it takes this site to make one aware of it. I haven't had a conversation with anyone who knew of it since reading this thread and couldn't find a leaflet about it in the tourist information racks anywhere in my 10 days in Scotland.

I was also put off by the directions, and the reference to park and ride. I wasn't going to leave the motorhome with all our possessions in a park and ride, but the directions speak of awkward roundabouts and single track roads. I phoned the day before to ask whether it was possible to get a 23ft motorhome in the car park and they didn't seem at all sure.

So I'm really glad that I went, and found that it was really accessible and had more parking on site than they could ever need. I found no difficulty in getting the staff to let me stand on the gangway of the boat where I had full visibility.

The only anxiety was that one of the boxers decided to go for a swim in the top pond!

I've forwarded this message to the British Waterways Board.

Apart from that 10 days of Haggis, Neeps and Tennants - ideal!
