I think the electrical (battery) situation is the most challenging here. I look forward to your progress on this, especially to seeing how long this alternate battery lasts when you're streaming music from Empeg to your PC, and the engine isn't running. I think I read that the Empeg drains about 1mA when in standby mode, but to be streaming, reading from disk, running the network stuff etc etc. sounds like it could start to get a little heavy on the power.
