TigerJimmy has inspired me to break the bonds of Windows and experiment with this old beige box that's been collecting dust for a few years. (180MHz Cyrix GX, 64MB RAM! ) I bought three of the Maxtor 200GB drives that were on sale at Fry's recently (no rebate) and started downloading Debian iso files. Several days later I've managed to get a modest install running (desktop is a no-no). Did I mention that I'm new to this? The learning experience has just begun, however- now I have to complete the configuration and establish my network. Thanks to TigerJimmy and a couple of friends, I may soon have a 400+GB RAID5 box for a total capital outlay of $255. Then I can begin ripping my CD collection! ...and, um, learning what a shell prompt does!
