No, you don't. Get a normal 9-pin to 6-pin cable that's long enough to reach from the 9-pin port on the back of your computer to the 6-pin input on your monitor. Plug it in. Done. Unless you have some requirement that you use a 6-pin to 6-pin cable in the middle for some reason.
