He means he wants to be able to share a DVD from his file server and have the player access that disc over the network and show the DVD's menus just as if it was physically inserted into a DVD player, rather than the player playing just a bare video file.

I know a few people looking for this feature. I've been looking for ages now and have come to the conclusion that there is some sort of licensing issue which prevents standalone DVD players from implementing this feature. I don't see how hard it could be. All of the parts necessary are already present in the networked DVD players.
