I agree, and I do think that h.264 has a brighter future, but I was responding to the term "portable." To me, that means it's a format more widely accepted and usable on a greater variety of devices, which I don't think is the case. That's all I was responding to. All in all, I think it's a better format - better quality and smaller files, right? At the moment, though, I think it's harder to both play and create those files.

One question, though. Isn't the whole point of xvid to address the problem you state in your quote above?
