That's the idea -- you bought an expensive (or not) television, but are simply using it as an oversized computer monitor. Nothing special there.

You will still have to get sound from the PC to your sound system.

And your PC will want significant horsepower to play any kind of fullscreen video at 1920x1080 resolution -- that's a lot of pixels to be continuously redrawing and moving around.
