I still have a TiVo. I switched to cable when my HDVR2 died. A good friend has the DirecTV DVR. I have a decent amount of experience with it, albeit not every day experience. While it is certainly better than it used to be, it's still pretty lousy. (Okay, it's adequate.) He has to power cycle it relatively frequently. The UI is still awful, IMO. But to each his own.
