I'm a huge fan of my Logitech MX1000. Sorry, it's wireless and has a good number of buttons, but I've always really liked it.

I suspect that I generally don't hold my mouse like I'm supposed to. I hold it pretty far back, so that the last knuckle on my middle finger is just barely behind the scroll wheel. I've tried a few mice in recent years where you have to have your fingers all the way forward in order to click properly. I hate those.

The biggest gripe I've had recently, though, is that it's really hard to find rechargeable mice. Or at least it is in the cordless desktop market (and for a reasonable price). I don't want to have to worry about having and throwing away batteries when it comes to my mouse, because it would be a pretty regular thing. Luckily the MX1000 is rechargeable, and I rarely even have to worry about that. If I put it on the stand(/receiver) every 4-5 days it's fine. I just leave it overnight and that's far more than enough time to recharge it for you. And I really like the constant battery meter whenever you move the mouse.

Unlike you, I can never ever go back to ball mice. I hate those things. I support quite a few people who have ball mice, and it can get pretty nasty if I have to clean them out myself in order to be useful. One person had me look at their computer because they thought it was slow. They thought that since the mouse cursor was so herky-jerky, the computer must be bogged down with spyware or something. All I did was clean out the mouse and they were happy (I did check for spyware and they didn't have any smile ).
