According to wikipedia () the major cast members are all signed to do two sequels, and they are working on the script for the next one. I personally can't see Paramount taking this back to TV. I'm betting they keep it in movies.
I personally only had two problems with the movie.

I thought Chekov's accent was over the top. They got the gag in with authenticating "wictor wictor", but it felt like they were trying to hard with it for the rest of the movie.
My second issue is a problem with myself. I walked out saddened by the loss of the original universe. I need to convince myself that this is now a new "parallel universe", and the old one still exists.
Other than those I loved the movie.
