Should I expect the transmission rate of a large file to be the same when it is sent to a samba shared folder vs. when it is sent to a folder shared via netatalk?

File sent to smb share goes at about 4MB/sec.
File sent via netatalk transfers at about 10MB/sec.

The 10MB/sec number seems reasonable because the MBP is connecting via wireless at 130mb/s.
