More likely, it was in /sbin or /usr/sbin, and the default Knoppix user probably doesn't have those in its PATH.

Also, are we sure that it's going to show up as an sd? It's almost certainly not going to be sda.

That said, what it smartctl going to show us that we can't already find in the Windows SMART utility?
