I think this forum layout has its reasons. Re-organizing is a nice idea in theory, as I tend to associate/translate it into "improving". Bu that is how detailed the idea gets.
Practically, I think this forum, in its form, has very much an historical value for many of us. I can quickly go through it, it "makes sense", it is as familiar and friendly as it can get.
I also completely understand the idea of reducing forums would favor interaction, but the only ways to do that I can think of would entail moving many threads into some "old threads" section of the forum, possibly re-distributing others, merging others into one single forum; it is a lot of work, and I don't know if I'd like it for sentimental reasons, in spite of the potential practical benefits of such a thing.
