Is there anything you can do in terms of external shading or insulation to moderate the cooling requirement? Seems a shame to install a huge AC system for 6 weeks a year
External shading... no. Insulation on the roof... yes. BUT the cost of insulating the roof is greater than the cost of installing the air conditioning, the operating cost of the A/C is projected to be about $100 per year, and the
unit I plan to install is a heat pump system which means it can heat the house as well as cool it.
