That's what I thought.

I did some more google searches and found that the orinoco card I had (the pccard and the pcmcia/pci adapter) doesn't work for lots of people in older ISA and PCI systems. I went to ebay, and got an old $20 ISA PCMCIA adapter shipped to me. Installed it that night, and everything works. The PC upstairs is routing between my upstairs network (for the
empeg, rio-receiver, tivo, etc.) and the wireless network (which connects it to the rest of the house and the internet.)

Pretty cool. Thanks, all, for the help (saving me from buying another AP that wouldn't solve the problem.)
