Blaupunkt has a nice line steering wheel of remotes. In my opinion they look and fit a lot better than Kenwood of Pioneer remotes. Is there any possibility to make them work with empeg?

There is, if it works with the same carrier frequency (38 kHz, I believe) as those from Kenwood and Pioneer (and Rio's own). You will need ir_hack kernel and appropriate code translation file. Browse through FAQ and threads on making Pioneer remote work.
