This might sound like a stupid question.....but why would your Empeg ever be left in the car when you are not there?

After all, it's a pull out unit, so there's no reason for it to be in the car when you aren't.

For me, that was one of the additional benefits of the Empeg. The only car stereo I've never had nicked was my first one, and guess what, it was a pull out.

These days, the ba***rds will nick the rear half of it, even if you've removed the front panel bit. I've been lucky in that all my previous car stereos have come with their own insurance. This pays out as long as you can produce the removable front panel.

With regards to the Empeg, if you don't leave it in the car, then you can add it to your home insurance. If it then gets nicked from your person (when you are carrying it, say), then the home insurance coughs up.

WIth my policy, the Empeg is covered for theft and accidental damage, both inside and outside of the house (but not if it's left in the car).

This might be a cheaper way of getting it insured.
