I wasn't sure how the file systems/partitions are created on the empeg. I had hoped that I wasn't working from the inode count of a 10GB drive.
BTW, the file system must take a beating. I always cycle the player off and pause a couple of seconds before pulling the empeg from it's sled, but I suspect others aren't so gentle. I remember when the ext2 file system would force an fsck every 10 or so IPLs but this isn't in place on the empeg? I can see ext3 operating reliably w. out having to force an fsck, but I worry about ext2 and all of my mp3 files. I
I've used my empeg for almost 2-years, and I'm not aware of any file system problems. I suspect ext2 and the empeg's method of shutting down must be pretty damn robust.
