Okay, I am pissed. My Ricoh MP9120A CD/CDR/CDRW/DVD drive has bit the dust. This is the second one, the first went in for warranty service, and I'm fed up with this crap. I'll send it back to them to be fixed, but I want to replace it and use it as a backup.

So I'm in the market for a new drive, and I'm wondering what's out there. When I bought this one, the "combo drive" was a pretty new concept, but it seems there are others out there now. The 9120A I'm replacing is 32X read, 12X write, 10X rewrite, 8X DVD. Audio extraction speed was pretty good, and is very important in my new drive.

Everyone always says Plextor has the best drives out there, and I'm wondering if they have an entry into the combo drive market. Just wondering if anyone has any positive or negative experiences, or any models to recommend.
