Okay, so I've got my power supply. I don't know what a few of the connectors are for. My manual just says what they are. Mainly, I just don't know about 2 of them:

"Auxiliary Power Connector (PS1)" (6 pins)
"+12V Connector" (4 pins)

Any ideas?

I assume you're talking PC ATX power supply. If so those're probably the two extra connectors needed for P4 Mobos.

Hey, I like my Pentium. I'm planning to upgrade to P4 soon - after I'm done with the car (empeg, amp). Anyone wanna know what kind of screwed up setup I have now?

I'll put out the kicker first. It's a DELL. Sort of.

P3 1GHz (no fan, just heat sink) on Dell ATX mobo running through an adapter on P4 300W PSu in this case. Most of the fans have been replaced with Vantec Stealths (much quieter now).

I had another post entitled "I am the proud new owner of a 7 engine jet." That was me complaining about how loud the Sunon fans were in the new case. And now I hate Dell for the way they design mobos and cases. First, they switch 2 wires on the PSu and mobo so that you can't use them with standards. Second, the CPU has a pipe directly to the rear case fan, instead of having it's own fan above the heat sink.

For those reasons I will be upgrading soon, and all the Dell stuff will go back in the Dell case when I'm done.

Not sure how advanced you are on tearing computers apart and rebuilding them, but in my experience I have found that many manufacturers do proprietary things in order to keep thier systems from being interchangeable. I stopped buying from major manufacturers long ago for this very reason. Nice case, I bet it did sound like a 747 with the stock fans!

My 78 Oldsomobile was quieter 2 weeks before it died. The Vantec Stealths are amazing. All I get from them is the air noise. I can clearly hear the one remaining Sunon and the power supply fan now. I am replacing the last Sunon... and I may consider cracking open the power supply, too (never done that before).

As for my experience with complete manufactured systems - this is my third and I've been inside them all. This, though, is the worst "proprietary" setup I've seen. Not that it doesn't work - functioned fine for a year. But it's damn annoying.
