If anyone missed the half-price Wavefinder DAB receivers in April like I did, they are on offer again - go to http://www.psion.com/store and use coupon code "dig1offer" to get it for £39.99 inc.vat (instead of £99.99!!)
If someone could get it working with the empeg that would be great too :-) I have done a bit of research on wavefinder>linux drivers and people have drawn a blank generally :-(

Have a look at this thread on my musings about the wavefinder.

I have recently came across the Roke Manor Research DAB receiver at work which is the size of a packet of ciggies and has a serial port for control. You could then feed the output into the aux in on the empeg. The only problem with this card is it's over a grand, which is about £900 more than I'd be willing to spend!

The DAB module inside the Wavefinder is also designed by Roke Manor Research. If you're bored enough, you could in theory rip a Wavefinder apart and hack together a new interface for it. You'd have to be VERY bored though and have lots of free time considering most of the DAB decoding is done by the PC when using a Wavefinder I believe.

My Wavefinder has had about 2 hours worth of use out of it so far. There isn't actually any reception where I normally live! At my proper home however, I can receive a Digital1 mux.

I live about 5 miles from the Winter Hill transmitter, so I get about 5 multiplexes without any hassle. The DAB card at work included the audio decoding stage as well. I don't really listen to my wavefinder much either. 6 Music is quite good, it's probably the only digital station I listen to.

Yep. That's why I said you'd have to be really bored and loads of free time

I'm very undecided about DAB. There's nothing really that amazing about it at the moment apart from it's digital. Then again, I haven't really had the chance to listen to many of the stations.

Roke Manor Research actually did a limited run of pocket DAB receivers but they were even more expensive at £1500 each!

I wasn't holding my breath for the replies - I read that the Wavefinder isn't supposed to be too hot with weak signals too (so crap in car) - I am about 25 miles from Rowridge and I probably won't get a good signal here, but at work (Fareham) I am much nearer so it will get some use. Since the next cheapest receiver is five times more you can't go wrong.

I have one hundred pounds and a soldering iorn waiting for Patrick's kit though!

Ditto, I check the forum several times a day waiting for the announcement of the kits so I can get my name down quick!
