Is there a way you can buy the test CD you mentioned in order to RIP it and use it as a source for spectrum tests in the car? Is it commercially available?

What I want to do is put a spectrum sniffer in the car, and then run the empeg through the test set so that I can use the equaliser to change the response of the amp and the unit?

Go to the Iasca homepage http://www.iasca.com/ and look in the "Iasca Store". They have the 1999 Competition CD for sale there.

There are a lot of good tracks on that CD for setting up a stereo, devised to showcase spectral balance, linearity, staging, imaging, and more. It's not the cheapest CD in the world ($25 U.S.) but if you're serious about optimising sound quality, there's nothing I know of that works better.
