I recently acquired a Virus on my computer. I installed a free anti-virus program. However, it deleted the majority of the picture files on my computer. I was wondering if there are any good programs that would recover AND repair files infected by a virus. I have found plenty of programs that recover lost files, but I haven't found any that REPAIR them. any suggestions would be very appreciated!!!!!!!!

Most av applications will recover and repair, except where the damage is irreversible. Go for Norton/Dr Solomon/McAfee/Symantec etc etc etc

Alternatively, go to any of their websites and read the instructions relevant to that specific virus type.

Main thing - ya gets what ya pays for. This also applies to antivirus software.

In some cases (depending on the virus) there is no way to repair certain files. The files were completely replaced by the virus rather than modified. So all the cleaner can do in that case is to erase the files.

It turns out it is called the 'Love Letter' virus....I think I got it from something I downloaded off of Kazaa

As stated in the NAI Virus Description for this virus:

This worm searches all drives connected to the host system and replaces the following files: *.JPG *.JPEG

So, basically, all your image files are gone and there is nothing you can do about it.
