Guys,

I'm putting up a real web page one of these days, but wanted to share these pictures for now regarding my setup:

http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291507147

Quick highlights:
* Shoutcast servers accessible from living room and 2 bedrooms
* Video Jukebox w/ capacity for 120 DVD's
* Audio Jukebox w/ capacity for 5000+ songs
* Upgraded Tivo w/ 160hour capacity for recording digital cable/TV
* AT&T Digital Cable with independent tuning for Tivo
* Kept it not looking like a hacker's house:)

Lots of details that I'm not mentioning here, but feel free to ask what you want regarding this setup.

Nice setup! Next empeg meet in SF, I will have to come over and check it out if that's cool with you.

I think I see you are using a Belkin wireless Access Point in your closet. Would you be able to comment on the range/quality of that? They are always the cheapest. I would use them (because I am cheap), but you are the first person I know to use it. I usually buy SMC, by the way, if you are able to compare to thier line of APs.

It's ok; although in this building it's very susespectible to interferance when naighbors use phone/etc... It DOES work through 4 levels of concrete on our roof though.. (last party we had a bbq on the roof; I was actually streaming music using my laptop from the roof!)

This card is better then the linksys; not sure about the SMC as I've never used theirs..

Personally, the best access point that i've had is the apple airport (it died on me though:( refuses to startup now..) - but I feel the range/reliability on that was much better...

BTW - on the note of the belkin router.. I'm actually seriously considering retrofitting my rio-receiver to have one of these inside of it (the belkin is capable of acting like a client...) - and it's small enough to actually FIT inside! (I've checked...)

Hurdles would be power (belkin uses 9v; I think rio uses 12v; that's a question to the rio receiver side of this bbs...), and drilling holes for the antenna's...

Does it power on, but sit there and just reset over and over again? If so, it seems there was a problem with a capicitor in the early units that would cause this with age. I took mine into a local Apple dealer and they fixed it in a day for free. If your somewhat handy with sodering, a self fix should be easy. I'll try to dig up the details.

It doesn't reboot - just sits there and blinks orange at me...

I think it might be the flash or something going bad - started acting up ~6 months before it actually died; rebooting it several times would fix the problem... but I haven't been able to revive it lately:( (once it was started, it worked fine until next time power went out/etc...)

I don't know of anyone w/ a mac; but I think trying to reflash it w/ latest apple code would help...

Great setup! Now all you need to do is create some lighting schemes with an X10 setup and an IR translator. What kind of remote are you using to control all that stuff?
