is there a 2-wire bus (I2C or SMBus) available in the Empeg?

The DSP uses I2C if that helps.

Thanks for the post.. I also verified with Empeg... So the question is: would anyone be interested in a hack for the OS that would support a thermostatically controlled fan? I'm almost done building mine which will run solo but COULD be controlled via OS if anyone would be interested...

Photo's will be located at http://www.benjammin.net/www/pages/projects/

See yaz,

Isn't the power on the fan pins already switched by the player?

Maybe we just need some software to control it more intelligently.

Rod.

Wouldn't that be nice... nope. It's just a constant-on 12VDC. That's it...

I'm sure Hugo or somebody else said that the fan pins were switched on when the player went out of standby? It's not software controllable though.

Darn, but you went back and fixed the typo so now it's not funny any more.

Ok, I've got more pics on my website now... ( http://www.benjammin.net/www/pages/projects/ )
and I got the I2C connection points in the MPEG. It's still waiting for a chip from Dallas as the 1621 is not a stand-alone operation part. But they have a new one that is. I sent an email to MLORD asking him if he'd be willing to try a patch to hiJack to support the 1621 or thr 1721 (both require some commands to get the unit going).

If he's can swing it, the unit will have a user controlled fan. If not, the temp chip dallas is sending me can be set before insertion into the system and will run on it's own with the settings programmed beforehand.

Happy Trails,

-Ben
