Thanks!!

Not exactly. What he has, and I have it as well, is a stock Honda faceplate that was designed to cover the empty DIN space that the radio would be installed into. Years ago, Hondas would leave the factory with no radio, and so they had this to cover the space until the radio was installed.

He showed me where to order it from, and we have both modified our faceplates to appropriately hide the empeg sled when the empeg is not in the car. If you look at Tony's install on the riocar.org site, you can see the faceplate.

I love it. A thread that asks a specific question about my installation, and I don't even have to reply to it myself. Others have already handled it for me. I love you guys. *sniff*

Before I had the Honda, I had a similar part for my Volkswagen. It is likely that you could find one for your Bimmer if you asked the dealership.

Although not necessarily... My dealership was quite unhelpful on the topic and I had to resort to an online Honda parts store to get the part. As I recall, I got help from some folks here on the BBS to find the exact make and model of Honda so I could drill down to the right page to order the part.

Tony, you work so hard to answer everyone's questions, I figured I'd help you out on this one. Besides, you're the one who pointed me to the faceplate. Call it a way of thanking you.

Jim Hogan said he ordered a pocket for his car that fits into the sled pretty well. I keep meaning to get him to remind me what it is, because it looks like it has a lip that would hang beyond the sled for a quarter of an inch or so, which would work out pretty well in my BMW.

Jim? You listening?

My car ('96 Camry) has two single DIN openings. When I bought it used, it had the stereo and a pocket. When I went and removed the pocket to put the empeg in, I kept it around. I've noticed that it fits quite perfectly in the sled and completely obscures the metal of the sled.

Anybody who is interested should contact their car manufacturer and see if they have a pocket for you to order. Being that they are designed to fit in the single DIN spaces, it should work perfect for pretty much all cars.
