People fill out what they want others to know about them. Some are just a little more private than others :) But if you keep reading the board you will learn enough.

I'm just trying to liven these boards up a little. They've been pretty stale compared to what I am used to (www.vwvortex.com, www.sounddomain.com). Oh well, you guys aren't any fun.

I don't think the BBS is stale, it's just on-topic. This is a new concept for some, I guess.
We can't really compete with http://personals.yahoo.com/ I'm afraid :-)

It just depends on what you're interested in. If you're a big linux programmer/hacker, and a tech guru, you'll probably enjoy this board more than most. I'm not, and don't, but I don't post here expecting what you are. I'm more of a fan of the Klipsch UBB, but that's just me. DiGNAN

He's right! He's right! We must have slowly become, without us even being aware of the transition, a bunch of old B.O.F.s! Right, I think I have the solution. Everyone grab their empegs, a bottle of lubricant (whatever your poison), your significant other and go out to your car and PARTY!!!!. A world-wide, simultaneous empeg car-party! Whoa, hang on, musn't forget the disco lights; there's that really psychodelic multi-colour twirling cop light I can plug into the cigarette lighter, and a couple of camera flashes I can use as disco strobes. See ya! (Gawd alone knows what the neighbours will think - a private disco in a Mini? I can just hear it now: "Wat is er, schat?" Ah Nee, al weer de gekke Engelsman met de rare autoradio...maar nu ook met disco-lichten...*zucht*) One of the few remaining Mk1 owners... #00015

Actually, we did this when camping before the annual MX5/miata rally. Andy Islam gets out his 12v powered strobe (no, not a joke), puts the tob down, and proceeds to keep the entire campsite awake. Between his car and mine (avec mp3mobile one year, empeg the next) I think a lot of people were very annoyed. Well c'mon, the *granada* owners club were in the next field, drinking tea from thermos flasks. I still have no idea why people are fanatical about granadas...
Good job the rally is moving to a new location this year, I seem to remember the site saying they wouldn't let us in again...

Hey, Hugo - you should come down to the TR International in Malvern (behind the Morgan factory) on the weekend of the 28th/29th (I can't wait!!!). A few years ago, due to increasing numbers of aged members with small children, they decided to split our campsite into the "Noisy" end and the "Quiet" end. Civilisation and sanity restored. Now you can party 'till you pass out, and people frequently do. By 'eck though - the Noisy end is going to be b***** noisy this year, and all night without a single track twice, too ..... he he he he One of the few remaining Mk1 owners... #00015

Hmm... tempting. Malvern isn't so far away, and I should really visit Franc (the technician who helped me with the mechanical bits of the mp3mobile) who's on Coventry - sort of on the way to Malvern from Cambridge...

Me and my friend Ash did something semilar one time, although without the empeg (it wasn't made back then..) we went to a camp site and had our cars on opposite sides; ran a cable from my head unit to his amp (50ft cable) and blaster the place.. the camp area was in the middle of the woods, but you could hear it like 2-3 miles away:) -mark

I had some sick ideas about using 802.11 wireless ethernet on the mk2 and piping all 4 channels over ethernet to 4 cars surrounding me in a traffic jam. *Real* surround sound ;)

Been there, done that... Well, with one of those JVC FM transmitters that you are supposed to use to connect a cd changer via the radio... I plugged it into the car antenna, and it was powerful enough to be picked up within about 80 Meters...
Very silly in car parks... =)

Well then, why not? A brief cross-country jaunt (!) in a soft-top, and a weekend of lazy fun with cars and partying. Drop a line for details if you would like to come! One of the few remaining Mk1 owners... #00015

I presume there is electric available there, my battery sure won't run the amp anywhere close to all night.

We take spare batteries and jump leads for the desperate dark hours... Usually the RAC is quite busy over the weekend One of the few remaining Mk1 owners... #00015
