im pulling from my empeg with winamp and watching pretty visuals. no offense to the empeg crew, but theres just something about some of the winamp visuals that makes me leave stains on the floor. (well...)

I don't get that excited about winamp, but the visuals do look pretty good on my 100" screen.

I hate to be picky, but that post title is a bit misrepresentative. The empeg visuals aren't on the tv. The winamp visuals are. The only thing the empeg does is store the music.

Anyone here remember Cthugha? Way before Winamp and its cool visual plugins there was Cthugha.

Werd. Cthugha was the bomb. There was actually a WinAMP version, but it became so stagnant after awhile, and when AVS came along, Cthugha was really obsolete.

haha, i do remember that. wasnt it just an audio analyzer, not a player by itself?

heh, yeah you had to play music in the background for it to do stuff otherwise it put silly messages up on the screen! Dunno if it may have had CD Audio controls though (skip track etc.)

The first version I saw was for DOS but I noticed they later had a windows, java and other versions!

And there was also a WinAMP version that hasn't been updated in ages, but it might still work under WinAMP 2.x. T'was the best plugin around until AVS came along.

It was just an analyzer. I remember finding a plugin for Winamp allowing me to control mp3s with my game controller, then running Cthugha. I think there was even a way that you could make your own visuals. Ha, on a puny little 14 inch monitor no less. The good old days.
