If you read
my jEmplode bug report in the Programming forum, you'll see that a similar effect haunts emptool.
Specifically, I created four tracks from the same source WAV as follows:
File: out0.mp3
Media Type: MPEG 1.0 Layer III
Audio: 86.747215 KB/s, 44KHz (joint stereo)
Length: 0:56
File: out1.mp3
Media Type: MPEG 1.0 Layer III
Audio: 78.431229 KB/s, 44KHz (mono)
Length: 0:56
File: out2.mp3
Media Type: MPEG 2.0 Layer III
Audio: 58.628254 KB/s, 22KHz (joint stereo)
Length: 0:56
File: out3.mp3
Media Type: MPEG 2.0 Layer III
Audio: 52.758366 KB/s, 22KHz (mono)
Length: 0:56
Emptool uploaded these as:
out0:
length = 608434
duration = 56317
samplerate = 44100
bitrate = vs86
out1:
length = 549894
duration = 56317
samplerate = 44100
bitrate = vs78
out2:
length = 410436
duration = 112634
samplerate = 22050
bitrate = vs29
out3:
length = 369291
duration = 112634
samplerate = 22050
bitrate = vs26
As you can see, the duration and bitrate are both wrong for the tracks encoded at 22.05kHz, and the mono tracks are both marked as stereo.
