Came across a cornfuzzling problem today, when I was searching in the car.

What do I do if I have two songs, of the same name, by two different artists, and I want to only listen to one, by a specific artist? i.e.:

Soft Cell - Tainted Love
Marylin Manson - Tainted Love.

I hit 'Search' x3 on the remote, get to Song search. Type in 'Tainted', and I get: "Taintex Love (2)". Rrrnt, wrong.
Okay, so I hit search 4 times, get to artist search. Type in 'Marilyn'. and I get: "Marilyn Manson (7)". Rrnt, wrong again.

What do I do? How can I ONLY select the one MM song?
Apologies if this is dumb, but, well, my player's 8 months old, and I'm STILL finding things about it I didn't know.

Mike.

You can't, you have to select both versions of the song and skip the one you don't like. Sub-selection of search results is on the wishlist but has not been implemented yet.

You could, alternatively, name the tracks differently, such as appending "(Soft Cell Version)" to the end of the track name for those instances in your colleciton which have that issue.

And, may I add, MM's cover of that song is quite interesting.

you would go into your marilyn manson playlist and choose to insert, replace, append or enqueue the song. of course.. thats not searching for it. i personally dont use the PIN function often, if ever. you could add a PIN to the soft cell version and a different PIN to the manson version.

Ah. So I'm not as dumb as my player makes me seem.
(I even tried to type my song in, and then when it was selected, his 'search' again to get to the 'Artist' serarch screen, hoping it'd show me the two artists, and I could pick the one I wanted.)

If you haven't seen the video.. woah.
That song is reserved for 'first play' once I get my new Mini, and get the sound upgraded in it (Empeg installed, the works.). Can't wait. :>

Thanks for the info, tho..

The video is where I first heard the song...

They had MTV running at a LAN party, and I'm like... "Is that tainted love?!", and then I noticed it was MM singing and I was like.... Okay, that's TWISTED.

I've also had a problem that is similar to that one. You know how you can insert another tune by the same artist into the queue by pressing the "2" button on the remote.

This works, no problem.

But when I want to do the same for songs with the same title (in this case the same "tainted love" example can apply), this doesn't work. I try to do this by pressing the "9" button, like it is printed on the remote, but it doesn't work.
Am I doing something wrong or hasn't this been implemented yet?

The "Title" button on the remote is not implemented yet, as documented here. The "tweak order" functions and their behaviors are outlined here.
