Hey guys, another question.
Besides the problem with my remote, A couple of times in the last few days, I was listening to my empeg in my car, and all of a sudden there was no sound. The empeg was still playing, but no sound from my speakers, My amp was still on.
I had to pull the empeg out and put it back in the sled and then it started working fine again.
Any ideas??

probably the "stuck jiffies" bug. upgrade to b13, and you should be fine.

It might have been that your player wasn't in the sled all the way. I get this sometimes because my player doesn't fit in the sled easily because of the shape of my dash. It's in enough to get power, but the audio outputs aren't making contact.

Another thing you might want to consider is the amps.

I've had my amps decide all on their own before that they just want to turn off. Almost like they lose their 12v switch signal that the stereo supplies. Turning the system off and then back on made them turn on again.

Don't blame the empeg so quick. It might not be its fault.

The amp would be my guess as well, but usually something like what you describe happens after a while of listening, and isn't really fixed that easily.

For example, on my trip back to the parents' house, 2 hours and 20 minutes, I'll listen to my empeg at about 0dB all the way. around the 2 hour mark, sometimes the sound will cut out completely. This is because the amp has overheated and shut off. All I need to do is turn off the empeg and wait about 5 minutes for it to cool down. I also turn on the lower fans of the A/C

You probably have a different problem, but it could be related.

I had only been listening to it for about 45 mins when it shut off. Then the other day it shut off after about 2 mins.

I checked to see if the amp was on, and it was,.. so not the amp. The empeg was all the way in sled also.

In my experience, when the jiffies bug occurred, it still played music, it just wouldn't accept input. So I don't think that's the case here.

Maybe you're just going temporarily deaf? When's the last time you've been to an ear doctor?

Or it could be loose wires, like an RCA cable not in all the way.

The same thing happens to me about once a week. I'm running b11 still too. Also happens when the player boots up initially some times. Everything seems normal just no sound. My amps are clearly still on, it's the Empeg for sure. I'll also upgrade to b13 and keep the board informed of any further occurances.

No, on both my Mk1 and Mk2 it latched up the player either completely, or the player stopped and the visuals continued. Was the "W" displayed top right on the screen when the music stopped?

No, everything appeared normal, just wasn't getting any sound.
I just upgraded to 2.0b13 and Hijack 293, so we'll see if that fixed the problem.
