EDIT: Laura has the fastest fingers, so she got it!

Does anybody want this combo? I will give it to whomever has a use for it.

I was about to throw it out. At the time of original purchase, I paid about $1000 for these 3 items. Obviously, I would rather see it used than sitting in a landfill. It has served me well for the past 3-4 years as a rock solid Linux server. The SCSI drive attached to it died, so I rebuilt the machine with IDE drives and a faster processor.

All I have is whats in the pic. It is a Micronics W6Li (sometimes called 'Lightining' or 'White Lightning'). It has onboard 68-pin wide SCSI and 50-pin connectors with Adaptec chipset. It also has Creative Labs Vibra-16 audio onboard. The CPU is a PPro 200MHz with 512k cache. It has an Intel OEM fan on it. The memory module is an IBM part. It is a 256MB 60ns Buffered EDO DIMM. The DIMM is double height, so you need a case with a generous amount of space (I had it in an In-Win A500). The motherboard itself is huge, but should fit in any ATX case. I do not have the VRM needed for Dual CPU operation.

If you want it, send me a PM (private message) through this BBS. Please do not send email.

Below is a pic. Click here for the full size version.

I have the same motherboard in a machine in my office. If I ever get 2 cpus working in it, I'll cram the disk from april.dementia.org (aka www/ftp.dementia.org) into it and obsolete one more uniprocessor ppro system.

Why a dual processor web server? The web server has no content locally, it's all in AFS and it just runs a web server, an ftpd, and an AFS client. The advantage is considerable: when the last web server developed a problem I configured this machine, updated DNS, and then 3 days later bothered to go and find out why the other machine was unhappy. SMP is just an excuse to abuse the SMP OpenAFS Linux client some more.

I don't know about the fastest fingers or not, I'm just living on the board lately trying to answer any questions about the meet.
