I'm encountering random spontaneous reboots in player mode. These used to only occur in tuner mode. The nature of the reboot is different. When the tuner mode crashes, it instantly reboots and you see the short animation, the loading database screen, etc, as if you power cycled. When the player crashes, the visuals lock up, the sound stops, and then a moment later, the sound "ramps up" as if you rebooted and it's starting up again, however there is no "booting" visual. This happens maybe once or twice a day. Don't know how to reproduce.

Any ideas??

Can you "attach" the serial port with hyperterm and leave it running for a while? I assume the player is crashing, and if you attach you should see what's basically a stack trace printed.

Typically this happens in the car. I'll keep this in mind though, see if it happens when I'm at home. Either that or get a laptop out to the car.

How much do you use it at home? Leaving hyperterm running overnight (as well as the player) perhaps is an option?

I'll have to dig out the serial cable. Will report back any findings.

this happened to me three times in the last two weeks. in the car, it would just sputter... stop, sputter for a fraction of a second more, then stop, and restart the player (or reboot. i'm not too sure). i dont see a bootup animation, but i do see the player init screens.

i'm going to see if its specific mp3s... i.e. if it happens again, replay the song and see. i'm also going to let it play it overnight with the serial logging.

ok. i left it overnight in ForceDC mode. it crashed once, but without any segfault dump. all it said was this:

Restored terminal settings
Remounting first music partition read-only
Remounting second music partition read-only
Abnormal player termination
Player received signal 11
Starting player

any ideas?
