I recently recieved a DarkStorm lens and am very impressed with it. I notice that they dont have the reflective sort of backing that the official lenses have so you can see horizontal lines from the display through the lens. Is there any solution to this?

If so, generally most people jsut accept them as they are.

Sorry, I should have stated that I checked out the FAQ and there wasn't anything that was helpful to what I'm talking about. This picture shows more of what the problem is. The lines are quite a bit less noticeable but with this picture you can get the point. Now with the empeg official lenses these lines are not visible, I'm not sure if its due to the tint of the lenses or the reflectiveness.

Well in my opinion what you are seeing *is* the heating filaments in the display, as described in the FAQ. It is completely normal

The FAQ is describing the fact that the heating elements heat the screen unevenly, which results in the screen being of variegated brightness. What chango's seeing are the actual filaments themselves. They're hard to see with, for example, the blue screen, but fairly easy to see using the red screen. What color DarkStorm lens did you get, chango?

Edit: Okay, the FAQ describes both, but only pictures the variegation.

Like Bitt says, I believe you are seeing the filaments as well. These were quite easy for me to see when I was using the regular Red or DarkStorm's Smoke lens. It's quite possible there are many other colors that will let the filaments be visible.

I have both the clear and the smoked lenses. The clear lens is by far the lenses filaments are most visible. With the smoked lenses I can barley see them.

I'm just letting you know that I had also noticed it. So don't worry, nothing is wrong with your player; it's just a side effect that appears when using some colored (or clear) lenses with that vacuum flourescent display.

The reflective backing on the official lenses have nothing to do with visibility. That reflective backing is for electromagnetic filtering only, it does not affect the way you can see into the front of the player.

The reason you can see the filament wires better is because, by using DarkStorm's lens, you have changed the color and the opacity of the lens. You didn't say which lens you got, but I'm guessing it was a Smoke or perhaps one of the lighter shades.

The filament wires glow a reddish shade, so dark blue or green shaded lenses will make the filaments basically invisible. But a smoke, red, or amber lens will make the filaments show up more clearly.

I doubt that the cross wires would "glow" at the same colour/intensity as the pixel matrix behind the lense. This would imply a defect, and with EFT it cannot happen that way anyway!

It is more likely that you are seeing the wires with the display settings at a low intensity, ie. you have the dimmer setting quite low. What do you have it set to? Also, is this when you have the car headlights on in the car, or in the house?
