Both players are connected to USB, Emplode can see both players but Empeg Clone can't, what gives? Clone just replies with "Found unit: (0) on" in the source player box and "Found unit: (40103977) on RioCar 60gb" in the destination player box. If I switch the USB cables between players then the clone recognizes the 2nd player as the destination player but still won't recognize a source player.

Strangely, if only one player is attached, then the clone has an error dialog box that pops up to let you know only one player is attached. In my case, no error box just the "Found unit: (0) on " in the source player box. So it would appear that the clone IS seeing the second player it just can't identify it.

Do you think that if I went back to Beta 11 or v1.03 and tried it the results would be different? I'll try it and check if out if you think there is a possibility that 13 may be the problem.

Lazy Bastard's clone is very easy. But, you can also try jEmplode to clone if you need a GUI. You can open both players at the same time and drag and drop playlists/tunes from one to the other.

I think you need ethernet though. I'm not sure how the jEmplode USB drivers work.... if at all.

I've never tried JEmplode either. I have an ethernet connection set up here at work already so that sounds like it would be the best way for me, how do I get started?

Download and install jEmplode (download with the Java VM). Run it and open one of the players. Once that is open, go to "File -> Open Player" (or something like that) and open the other player. You should now have the playlist from each player open in seperate windows. Then drag and drop from one to the other player. Sync, and you should be done.

Already jumped in and installed JEmplode and Java VM. Thanks a bunch! What are the main advantages with JEmplode when compared to Emplode (besides the ability to copy from player to player so easily)?

BTW, Tony, I went back to Beta 11 and tried to use the Empeg Clone also with no luck. Oh well, I guess I'll use JEmplode to keep them in sync.

I only use jEmplode when Emplode can not do what I want, so I am not the authority on it... but here's a short list:

• Copy from player to player
• Works on many different platforms (linux, macos, etc...)
• Has boot animation editor

I'm sure there are more features, but that's what comes to mind right now.

Maybe this is dumb, but I can't get any drag and drop to happen no matter how hard I try. Can't figure out how to open 2 players. When I try to open the second player, it just closes the first one. Tried it by opening 2 JEmplode windows and that won't let me drag and drop either. Sorry to be a bother, but any help would be appreciated.

I am still at work, but if you can't get it by the time I get home I will attempt it and give full instructions.

Go to 'File -> Open Clone' to open the 2nd player without closing the first. I f'ed up. Sorry. That should work.

There is no "Open Clone" option in any of the drop downs. There is "Open player database" but that replaces the open player with another.

What version of jEmplode are you running? When you use the automatic downloader, it installs an outdated version. I have version 41 here. To update it exit jEmplode and download this file. After downloading, replace the file of the same name in your install directory with the one you downloaded.

Got that corrected now. Now my window has the "Open Clone" option. Still can't drag & drop. As a matter of fact, I can't figure out how to copy anything from one player to the next. I'm also a bit confused about the "Paste", "Deep Paste" and "Mirror Paste" functions too. I'm not really sure if they even come into play when copying from player to player anyway. I was wondering (once I get this working) if the drag & drop option copies the music and playlists exactly or will it duplicate music that is referenced in multiple playlists?

Perhaps it's not drag and drop. My internet connection is going in and out at home, so I am not going to download jEmplode right now. Try using ctrl+c to copy and ctrl+v to paste between players.

Hey guys... I'm still dealing with this issue and I'm hoping to get some more input from the board. I just need one soulution so whether it's someone who can tell me how to "Clone' the players via JEmplode, or someone who can figure out why Empeg Clone won't deteect both players on USB, it doesn't matter to me. I only need to accomplish this once! I do have 1 pice of info to offer that may be affecting Empeg Clone and that is that one of my players has an assigned IP address and the other assigns its' own addres through DHCP. I don't see why it would matter when using USB but I thought I'd mention it just incase. Would prefer to use the JEmplode route if possible due to speed of transfer (I'm transferring almost 40gb). Help me if you can, thanks in advance.

I too am having the same problem. I downloaded the latest jEmplode version 45. There is no Open Clone option. I tried starting two jEmplodes, but it would not allow me to copy from one and paste into the other. I have Emplode version 2.0(non-beta) with the latest Hijack kernel on both players. Could I be having problems because I am using USB on both players. Could it be that only LAN will work? A solution was never reached on this post, hopefully someone can help me out.

I did eventually get the Empeg Clone to work properly. You have to go back and use the original Version 1.03 Emplode and Player software, works flawless. Only problem is, as far as I remember, it sync's over the serial connection which is REAL slow.

For some reason, all of the 2.xxx versions I tried to clone with would only find one player and I never was able to make it work in JEmplode either. Actually, I'm using WsFTP now to do all my sync's. This is nice 'cause it can be done quickly over the ethernet connection and provides a backup if anything were to happen to your Empeg hard drives. Just need to install Hijack to enable FTP on your Empeg.

I managed to get it to work. Got the latest version of jemplode from the en. (A new link should probably be added to the menu bar of this site (pointing to the inzyme site) to establish that the jEmplode link is for reference only and the software from there is oudated). With the latest jEmplde, I was still not able to open my second player using USB. Only when I finally got the players on an ethernet network did the software allow me to go to the File Menu and select Open Another Database. Then I used copy and paste to paste the folders/directories from the source empeg to the destination empeg. I then hit syncronize on the destination empeg and it copied the songs over.
