After finding out in the general forum that Wendy Filters can't check the time or date and then turn themselves off or on, I'm following Tony's advice and reposting here.

The general idea is that it would be cool if filters could be set to check the date and time on the player thus deciding whether or not to set themselves. In a practical example, Xmas music wouldn't even show up on your player until say Thanksgiving and would then blissfully disappear the day after Xmas. All without messing around with playlists. I'm not sure what this even entails so I'd be grateful if someone with a working knowledge of the software would post a sort of flow chart of how it might work.

I love this idea, but Xmas music wouldn't be playing on my empeg until the week before Christmas - and then only in limited quantities. My tolerance for it is usually exhausted by the 30th of November.

Nothing against Christmas, or music. Just Christmas Muzak.

You're telling me. I used to work in a high-dollar jewelry store in a touristy "historic downtown" district. Holiday season was the ultimate hell for me.

Took me about 5 years after leaving there before I began to tolerate holiday music again at all...

Sounds like a groovy idea, but could produce some interesting results. Just yesterday, my player was convinced it was July 8, 2034. Having that Christmas music come on around Memorial Day (for instance) would freak me out...

a few questions....

What kind of issues is this really? Hijack, emplode, etc...
What kind of person (expertise wise) does it take... should I bend Mark's ear? If not then who?
How programming intense is it? I assume the clock data can be accessed easily enough, but it that a good assumption?

If it's going to get done in the Wendy filters, then it's something that only the Empeg guys could implement. It's in the player software. I don't think Hijack can control things like Wendy filters.

Hijack might be able to do "tricks" like force a certain tune to play at a certain time, but this would not be controlling a Wendy filter, it would be sending a "insert specific FID" command to the player from the outside.

So realistically speaking, this is not going to happen... Not that the guys aren't really cool, but its not going to be anywhere above 231 on the priority list. Or have I exited realism and wandered into pessimism.
