I have an external serial source interfaced with the serial pin 1 (mute line) of the empeg and would like to capture this bitstream with a laptop from the serial port of the empeg. Can anyone tell me what commands (if any) I can use from the shell to look at this input. I know there is a bitstream present as number6 has helped me intercept it using a maxim233 & basicx. I wanted to see if I could intercept it while now interfaced to the empeg. I looked thru the faq but can't find anything except commands to intercept serial data from the tuner serial port.

I eventually would like to write an interrupt handler for this line as described by Hugo here:http://empeg.comms.net/php/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=empeg_tech&Number=59603&page=&view=&sb=&o= (researching this topic now) but would like a quick way to confirm that something is coming thru this line into the empeg.
