Hey, anyone know of an FTP program that will do multi threaded transfers of single files? I've found several that can make multiple connections for multiple files, but only found Cute FTP Pro for multiple connections to single files. So... anyone know of any other progs?

Ok, tried SmartFTP and it'll only do multiple connections for multiple files. What I want is multiple connections on a single file.

Try Tony's and my (based on his recommendation) favourite, GetRight.

I've always used GetRight to download a single file using multiple threads from both FTP and HTTP sites. In GetRight, the feature is called "Segmented Downloading". I can have it either automatically find multiple sources for the download, or spec the multiple sources myself by hand (even multiple instances of the same server).

Is that what you mean?

I swear by GetRight.

Thanks. GetRight seems to do the trick just the way I want, but slows down my computer something fierce. Weird. Then, at 99% it crashed. Tried it again, worked fine but still made my system chug. I think I'll play with it some more, but so far I think I like CuteFTP Pro 3.0 a little more. It's just kinda expensive so I was looking for an alternative.

You might also want to check out LeechGet. It's a clone (sort of) of GetRight, and does some things better and other things worse. But it's free.
