So I don't wanna get screwed by yahoo maps, cause I have in the past. Thought I would learn from people with experience. Is there a good route to take driving from the Bay Area to Vegas? I figure it should be around a 8 hour trip right? Any help would be appreciated.

I drove from Vegas to Anaheim last year and will be doing the same this year. Mapquest's directions were acurate. However, this year I will have my GPS with me.

Yes, but it's not built in. Also, I am not driving from New York to Vegas.

I bought the Garmin GPS V after seeing Drakino use it in Cincinnati. It is a pretty awesome unit.

Doubtful. My non-CES time will be dedicated to buffets and gambling.

SF to Vegas is a really bad drive. theres no road that goes in a straight line from one point to another. you're going to have to drive more south (bout 50 miles), then cut through the desert, then go back northeast. mapquest will find the shortest route, but it sure is lonely when in the desert. hope you dont fall asleep. =) good luck.

thanks, yeah I didn't want to shell out $500 for my wife and I for airfare. Just cannot afford that right now. I got this off of the web for directions from SF to Las Vegas:
101S, 152 East, I-5 South, 46 East (or you can take 58 East), 99 South, 58 East, I-15 North.

the 58 east is what i've taken from up there. desolate place, but it sends you straight to barstow (outlet stores! =).

so which is a faster route time wise?

OR
#2 101S, 152 East, I-5 South, 58 East, I-15 North.

i5 south to 58e. you cant go as fast on the 46 than you can on the 5 or 58 (that you can get away with, at least).
