Anyone know what level of ID3 tag Audio Catalyst is attaching to RIPped files?

It does not seem to be in the help, readmes or on the website. Any hints appreciated.

It does v1 tags only.

Yup - pretty much as I had guessed - thanks. Since I'm a V1 only shop, then the current debate about tags passes me by for now.

Thanks Hugo!

Wow, that's pretty sad (I assume you're talking about the Windows version). The Mac version of AudioCatalyst (which was, sadly, end-of-lifed at v2.1.0 a number of months ago) does ID3v1.0, 1.1, 2.2 or 2.3 tags - whichever you choose. Very handy. :)

Isn't there a newer piece of software on Windows which is basically AudioCatalyst? I'd think RealNetworks would definitely have released something from the AC codebase by now...

AC end-of-lifed at 2.1 on the PC too, since RealNetworks bought Xing.

I suspect the closest you will get is RealJukebox, but I don't really want that huge app when all I want to do is rip & encode tunes. If I want to organise my music I'll use emplode, which makes RJ look extremely weak in terms of organisation & flexibility.

I use xingmp3enc, which is the encoding engine from audiocat as a commandline tool for linux,
together with cparanoia, sox and krabber. that gives me an audiocat-like work feeling, but it's
much faster! 10 minutes for a full audio CD...
