Okay. One last question. FAT or NTFS
If it's FAT then it's much easier to do that NTFS.

If you know that it's NTFS, you're probably reasonably savvy, but just to be safe in case you're not, you have looked in the Recycle Bin, right?

Otherwise, I don't know of anything in particular, but a google for ``ntfs undelete'' turns up a lot of stuff.

Hehe, yup I've checked the bin ! I've done a search on google, but the software is either $100+, or doesn't see my drive. I'll keep trying google

The problem with NTFS is that Microsoft likes to change the format of the manifest slightly every revision which breaks everything.
I don't know of any free NTFS undelete tools I'm afraid. The cheapest ones out there seem to be around $50 so it all depends on whether you value the data more than that. Another hope might be to find somebody with a copy of one and see if they'll do it for you?

The data can be replaced, it'll just take a while to get all my music videos back. Oh well, at least my Simpsons episodes survived!

Thanks for that. I'll see what I can find from friends/back-up CDs first. If I made any back-ups that is!
