My handle broke on my Mk2a and I got another one from Rob, but I understand that it is a bit hard to replace. Does anyone have any instructions or advice on how to do it?

A screw on each side forms the hinge which holds the handle to the player. Use needle nose pliars to unhook the springs from the player and the old handle will come away. Two more screws on each side hold the steel bracket to the handle. Remove these but be careful as they are tiny. It's important to use a screwdriver with the right size head (small!) otherwise you'll chew up the screws.

Now reattach the steel brackets to each side of the new handle. The screws cut their own thread into the aluminium handle so take care to drive them in straight. Fix the handle back on the player using the two larger screws, again taking care to drive them straight.

Finally the fiddly bit - reattach the springs to the player using needle nose pliars - this can take some practice!

Yeah, like Rob said, the hard part is getting fiddly with the springs.

Is it easier to fully remove the disk drives and display board assembly before attempting to remove/reattach the handle? As long as you don't plug the connector in off-by-one when reinstalling it.

One thing to know is that the handle screws tend to loosen up over time if you don't loctite them...

It shouldn't be necessary to remove the display board - I think that creates more pitfalls than it solves. Just be careful working around that fill nipple!

I still haven't heard from support! I need a new handle as well - and my attempts at a temp fix on my old one left me with two small stubs of a handle. The cross-bar is totally gone. Whoops.

Support seems to be having a bit of a personal crisis judging from his post in General last night!

Any update? I haven't heard anything from support. Should I send another email (I've sent two).

Thanks,
Chris
