Is there an easy way to tell what file system a disk is using? Like, say I've burned a DVD. I want to tell if it was burned in UDF instead of ISO, and I also want to know which version of UDF was used.

See, I'm using DVD X Copy, and the first disc it created won't play in my DVD player. I want to check to see if it was burned in UDF 1.02

I would use DVD Decrypter instead of DVD Xcopy.

DVD Decrypter will rip the whole dvd to ISO format.

Then you could use a program like DVD2ONE to compress the DVD. Then just burn in DVD video cd mode. Add all the files DVD2ONE creates into the VIDEO_TS folder and burn. This is in Nero Burning Rom if you have that.

Well, that's a little more cumbersome. It would be easier to simply snag the video_ts folder from DVD X Copy's temp folder after it's been created, and just burn that in Nero.

I don't need to know how to burn this, I need to know if the one CD I've already burned is the problem. If not, then it's my standalone DVD player. I don't want to make more useless coasters if I don't have to.

The only thing I can think of is to boot into Linux (maybe using Knoppix?) and see if you can mount it as UDF and/or ISO9660.

To be honest, I don't know for sure that Linux implements separate filesystem drivers for them, but I think it does, and if it does, a simple ``mount'' should show you what filesystem it's mounted as, if it mounts automatically, or you could try to mount it manually specifying each fs type (I think you can have hybrid ISO/UDF discs).
