Okay, somebody please explain what this display indicates.
In particular, the upper right corner: " TP TA AF"
Thanks.

Re: " TP TA AF":
Okay, I found this in the v2beta11 release notes Implemented tuner mode indicators:
"TP" means the currently tuned station carries travel announcements
"TA" normal means that player will switch to radio from normal/aux if a travel
announcement is made on either the currently tuned station (see "TP"
indicator) or via another station.
"TA" dimmed means TA mode is on but the currently tuned station doesn't carry
travel announcement or transmits information about those that do.
"TA" missing means TA mode is off.
"AF" normal means that the player has other frequencies available for the
currently tuned station.
"AF" dimmed if AF mode on but alternate freqs not available.
"AF" missing means AF mode is off.
But the odd thing is, I'm in Canada, and CBC1 does not carry "travel announcements". Heck, I don't even think they've ever heard of RDS at all here. Mmm..

Notably:
The Canada Broadcasting Company (CBC) has run experiments in Toronto.

Yeah every now and then I get TP on one particular station that doesn't have any RDS support. In fact there is only one RDS station where I live.
But even once the TP comes up, I don't see any sort of announcement. TP appears with only AF turned on too which is strange. I would have thought that it would only appear with TA on, unless it's supposed to appear to let the user know the station carries the announcements.

I think TP/TA is not an RDS function.
On MK1 witk 2.00 final the TA/TP funcion works well, only missing the feature to make the radio LOUDER when listening to a traffic announce !

They are all RDS flags...

Do you have any dialogue with the radio people? I'm tuned to radio 2, I'm trying to test out the TA/EON feature, Its clicked over to TA 3 times and just played me Radio2. Now, I could be wrong, but that sounds like a fault in the transmission, rather than the receiver. If you don't have any ideas, I'll e-mail Radio Leeds, because I don't want the guys in Cambridge chasing their tales, looking for something that isn't on their plate.
Note: That was to be a personal message, but I got distracted in the middle, I'll leave it up, now.

...a nice piece of veneer, is it a Roller you've bought with the proceeds from all those docking stations?
Happy to report, having put it on last night, that 330 works great with the tuner/2.00 - sorry ever to have cast aspersions, I should know that hijack is the goods!

I'm assuming Radio 2 weren't doing their own traffic news at that point. Wouldn't think it was a fault with the bbc end of things, if anything was amiss it wouldn't work at all.
I could ask one of my control room colleagues to check with the BDM to see if there are any other complaints. There's a fair amount to upheaveal at BH and the moment. I've just spent two days in the basement surrounded on all four sides by a building site so there could be a few problems arising from builders accidentally cutting through fibers.

Yeah, I think it is really pretty, too. It's birds-eye (or "beaks-eye", since their so small) maple, with a mahogany dye, and about 20 coats of super-blonde shellac. It's the front of my office dock. I would love to do similar work on the docking stations I sell, but the labour involved is prohibitive.

Now the really odd thing is, after a fresh power-on, it always shows "TP TA AF", but as soon as I retune the radio, up/down back to the same (or any other) station, it changes (forever) to "TA AF".
Looks like a startup bug in the Tuner code somewhere.
Toby?

I've never seen a dim TP indicator - that's two-state on/off information, not a control combined with information as TA and AF are. That doesn't sound right at all.

Oh, you're right. TP just goes off. I will correct the original post.
Thank!

One thing I intended to ask a long while ago:
What does the tiny flashing dot (between the RDS and stereo indicators) mean?
