This more of a poll than a question.

Do you take your Empeg with you when you leave your car?

1. Always
2. Usually
3. Only when I park certain places
4. Never
5. N/A, Only use it in the house.

It would be easier to use the poll feature in the BBS

Here's another good one, I think:

Those of you that sometimes or always leave it in the car, do you:
Always leave it in the dash
Always hide it under the seat/elsewhere in the cabin
Always hide it in the trunk
Always hide it in the glove compartment or in-cabin lockbox
Vary between dash and cabin
Vary between dash and trunk
Vary between dash and glove compartment
Vary between cabin and trunk
Vary between cabin and glove compartment
Vary between trunk and glove compartment
Vary between dash, cabin, and trunk

And when you're done that, can you also fill out this one?

How much audio equipment do you have in you unattended car?
< $50
$50-$200
$201-$500
$501-$1000
$1001-$2000

Just one more, if you don't mind (stupid 1 poll per post rule):

What security features do you use on your car when leaving the Empeg in it unattended?
None -- I don't even lock the doors.
I just lock the doors.
I have a cheesy alarm that goes off so often I ignore it.
I park in my garage.
I have a carbomb under the driver seat.

Thanks, guys! I'm really looking forward to seeing all your installations!

And now the corresponding poll is:

Where do you keep your spare car key
In the house next to the back door
Stuck under the wheel arch
Stuck onto the chassis somewhere
What car key? Somebody mysteriously stole my car!

No, I didn't ask for any addresses. I got an Empeg to put in my wife's car too and the advantages of using an Empeg over a PJB100 (40gig) shrink dramatically if she has to carry it with her everytime she gets out of the car or worse, it disappears the moment you leave it in the car unattended.

I don't see a choice for "in the engine compartment".

I think that and the aforementioned ``top of wheel'' would be prime candidates for ``other''.

You forgot:

That's my vote!

Just get her a bigger purse, too.

I really is an essential piece of audio equipment. Without it, listening to the 1812 Overture just isn't the same.

Although I always leave mine in the dash 2 things should be noted :-

1. My car has a pull down cover for the area of the empeg (it's a Renualt Laguna).

2. Living in South Africa, I only park where in places that have security guarding your car.

I park my car everywhere in poland. I have removed the handle, installed a self made dash of dark brown plexi, the display color i can see when empeg is on is green, but when empeg is off there is nothing u can see ;-) and the empeg is secured against being pulled out with an additional screw from behind ;-)

Amazingly appropos:

From Mark Leyner's book, "My Cousin, My Gastroenterologist."

He's got a car bomb. He puts the key in the ignition and
turns it-- the car blows up. He gets out. He opens the
hood and makes a cursory inspection. He closes the
hood and gets back in. He turns the key in the ignition.
The car blows up. He gets out and slams the door shut
disgustedly. He kicks the tire. He takes off his jacket
and shimmies under the chassis. He pokes around. He
slides back out and wipes the grease off on his shirt. He
puts his jacket back on. He gets in. He turns the key in
the ignition. The car blows up, sending debris into the
air and shattering windows for blocks. He gets out and
says, Damn it! He calls a tow truck. He gives them his
AAA membership number. They tow the car to an Exxon
station. The mechanic gets in and turns the key in the
ignition. The car explodes, demolishing the gas pumps,
the red-and-blue Exxon logo high atop its pole bursting
like a balloon on a string. The mechanic steps out. You
got a car bomb, he says. The man rolls his eyes. I know
that, he says.

I can imagine that might work for a country the size of Liechtenstein, but isn't Poland a little big to be trying that in?

and the empeg is secured against being pulled out with an additional screw from behind

How do you get it out to load music onto it? I've considered a security device in the car, but this is one of the reasons I haven't done it.

I've got a jeep where I frequently don't even have doors - how can I answer that question?
