Did I explain that well? Probably not. A friend is looking for something that he can print to with an inkjet printer, and then stick to metal, glass etc but from the inside. Something like car alarm stickers. Has to be transparent and not wipe off when you so much as look at it!

Does this clear, printable, durable, self-adhesive product exist?

edit: sticking to metal from the inside is pointless, but you see what I mean.

You could do this sort of thing with regular clear labels, by printing whatever it is backwards (a feature many printer drivers support), but I'd imagine that the permanency of the ink, both due to wear and to light, would depend largely on the ink itself, and not the paper.

It probably wouldn't help with light fading, but he could print it backwards as sugested above and then use another clear label on top of it to protect the ink from wear. I don't know exactly how clear said labels are, though, and two might make it too translucent.
