Rob,

What is your strategy regarding future releases of both the player and the emplode software? Currently we're enjoying free Beta grade updates, which is excellent. They encompass both the kernel software and the player application, plus emplode.

At some point (as yet unspecified), I am sure you're going to go over to a first official release, say 1.0. At this point:

- what will we do for the acquisition of upgrades, will they continue to be free or will we have to pay?
- if they are to be charged for, then what sort of price will we be looking at?
- will you be seperating emplode and the player from the (GPLd) kernel?
- will the frequency of release be maintained, or will it fall off in favour of major upgrades on a less frequent basis?

Rob and Hugo have covered this here before. What I think they said was that software upgrades would continue to be free unless they included software that has to be licenced from a third party, for example if they added a new decoder for a new format that they had to pay a licence fee for.

Yep, that's the case for the foreseeable future.
