My empeg started itself tonight while sitting in my docking station on my desk. I am running the latest version of software without hijack being installed. It is running in car mode while docked with no IR devices anywhere nearby. And my cats aren't guilty.

Ooo dead giveaway. I'll bet it's something to do with the volume knob. I assume it's one of your 2a units?

I wonder if the optical sensor on the knob was sensing some slight randomness to the data. I wonder if that's possible?

Yes, it's a MKlla. Could I have something on too tight? I added a drive to it a few days ago.

I doubt it. I dunno if the drive addition could have had anything to do with it, not sure.

I've experienced the same thing with mine. I got out to get gas, and the passenger swears they didn't touch any thing before it started playing again. Recently i've been noticing the play icon coming on randomly in the middle of songs, but since I havn't upgraded to 2.0 final yet, I don't think I get to complain.

Mine has similar symptoms. It is a Mk2a with the latest software and Hijack, and twice this week it has come back on in the car sled after the car's ignition is shut off. I had just been reading Laura's message, and ran out to the car to move it into the garage before a passing thunderstorm with reported hail arrived. Luckly for me I went out to move it, since the player was running and from it's temp had been on for some time. Oh, and the hail never materialized ... also lucky.
