I was trying to explain this place to a friend over the weekend, but remembered very little about it. My vague recollection is that it was an old offshore oil rig that had been inhabited permanently. Possibly near the UK? I remember them trying to make their own nation - or something like that.

I did a google search, and surprisingly came up empty. Anyone remember if this place is fact or fiction? And if it's real (or was once upon a time real), then is there a different name I should be searching under? All I'm after is a brief description of it and maybe a few pictures.

(It came up after hearing a Pet Shop Boys song in the background of a store we were in - the line "from Lake Geneva to the Freeland Station" in West End Girls.)

Sheesh. Yep, that was it - the "Sealand Station".

Thanks!
