Okay, the first batch of nine new docks are in the mail today. I would really like to send more of these out (we have twenty more on hand), but people are being really slow responding to emails (or not at all in some cases).
This could be due to holiday, work travel, whatever.. but I do need to send as many of these out as possible this week -- I am leaving for the UK on Friday, and none will ship again until I return to Canada, a couple of weeks later.
So.. please Claim your Docks!.
If you have not received an email from me, then please check your queue position at the Home Docks URL (above) -- if it says notified next to your order, then I am waiting for payment from you!
If you are in the top fifty or so, and would like one of the docks I have here, then stay tuned: Any docks that are left-over on Wednesday will be offered up for quick grabs before I leave for Europe.
Cheers

Oh, and by the way..
These docks are the first bunch of the new batch, with the all-new stiffer back panels, tighter tolerances, and the usual nice fit and finish.
Cheers

If you have any left over at the end of the week feel free to bring one to the meet for me! :-) (no idea if I'm in the next 50 or not ... but I am in there somewhere).

So, we've now got 100 custom made cardboard cartons on hand for shipping Home Docks around the world.
Except there's just one little problem with a certain little country.. guess which one?
The US of A wants more air in my packages. The rest of the World could care less, and actually appreciates smaller parcels. But not Uncle Sam, no. He wants an extra two inches on the box size, filled with nothing.
So.. off I go to order another hundred or so boxes, two inches longer than the first batch.
Consequently, dock shipping costs for the US of A will be $1 higher than previously. Rates for the rest of the planet remain unchanged.
Cheers

I must be missing something here. Since when does a country dictate what packaging you send through its postal service??

I was in the PO the other day and a new rule was sprung on the guy in front of me, they won't insure any package without a minimum of 4" of padding on each side.

Toilets, what with the canadian toilets ? I remember them as the same type as the american ones (Lots of water to let things float around! yikes..)

That is insane. Rather than not dropping packages marked "glass" or "fragile", they are forcing a padding dimension??? How can they actually enforce such a regulation? Are they opening boxes on the spot?

I imagine they just deny the claim. You typically have to show the packaging materials with the damaged merchandise to make a damage claim.

Since when does a country dictate what packaging you send through its postal service??
Exactly what I asked when I found out. My local Postie replied, "Since 911".
I really cannot see the connection with aircraft crashing into large buildings and slim letters dusted in white powders.. so, go figure.
But the US Customs service now requires that parcels from Canada which mass over 1KG must measure at least 25cm in one dimension. I forget the other two dimensions, but the 25cm (10") is the sticky bit for the 8x8x3" docks right now.
I've ordered the new boxes, oughta have them in two weeks or so.
Cheers

Wonder how they'd react to 2" worth of styrofoam glued to the outside, on one of the sides to make it 10"...

All my school essays would qualify for insurance then!
Whilst I'm on this thread, it's only right to say how pleased I am with my docking station, which I picked up at the meet - it really is a precision made piece of kit: Great stuff.

Exactly what I asked when I found out. My local Postie replied, "Since 911". Then how did you ship several docks already into the USA without this issue?
*sigh* USPS at its best again I suppose.

I got my two in the old boxes on Saturday! No scratches, dents, dings, white powder, or C4 packs!
I'm a thinking black lacquer finish for one, some type of steel/aluminum looking color for the other.
Thanks, Mark! These are awesome docks!

Actually, your two docks are in the "new-but-too-small" boxes.. my local postie was feeling nice that day, and accepted them even though they were undersized..
Good to hear they arrived okay with no nasty dings or anything!
